ELTIS - European Local Transport Information Service

The European Local Transport Information Service ELTIS is Europe's portal for local transport news and events, transport measures, policies and practices implemented in cities and regions across Europe.

The aim of ELTIS is to provide information and support a practical transfer of knowledge and exchange of experience in the field of urban and regional transport in Europe. It should give the user the opportunity to explore best practices from European cities and regions, to search for specific transport solutions and to be informed about the state of the art in a given transport application. In turn this should help create a more sustainable living environment, one which provides greater accessibility and mobility to its inhabitants.

There are two possibilities to contribute
  1. If you want to announce an event or to submit news of European interest please have a look on the ELTIS website and sent your text to the person in charge. He will post the text on the website.
  2. If you want to contribute with a Case Study please goto menu point "Case Studies" and then select "Submit a Case Study" and follow the instructions. Once you have submitted a Case Study it will be checked by the ELTIS team and will be online in a few days.

  3. What can ELTIS do for you?

News offers a regular round up of latest local transport news: local, regional and European.

Events offers a listing of upcoming events in the field of urban transport, again on a local, national and European basis and will provide on-line registration facilities for the events is promotes where possible.

Case Studies provides you with facts and illustrations on urban and regional transport activities in Europe. The ELTIS database incorporates an ever-growing number of transport case studies, concepts and documentation and bibliographical references that you can look up by using your own pre-selected specifications. Wide range of topics are covered, but the main emphasis lies around practical approaches.

EU Initiatives and Policies provides access to relevant papers, communications and initiatives defining the framework for further action in this field on national, regional and local levels. Summary information is available in each case, with links available for further information.

EU Funded Projects provides links to relevant ongoing research projects. It also contains information on future research activities and calls for proposals.

Contacts Directory is a page set to deliver contact information for selected organisations and institutions active in the field of urban transport, and also gives information on how to contact EC officials.
